Overall Job Purpose

Deliver innovative Automotive training to a high calibre of Ford Engineering apprentices.

To develop individual competence in order to deliver additional training across other engineering disciplines as and when required.

The delivery will have a blend of both theory and practical elements using a wide range of learning materials to encompass and enhance various learning styles.

Lessons are to meet the standards of the Ford Motor Company Apprenticeship curriculum and satisfy internal and external requirements. They will follow a structured programme using current lesson plans and schemes of work.

To collaborate with the existing team to ensure an effective and high performing educational and training programme.

Key tasks and accountabilities

Classroom delivery of automotive syllabus to meet Level 2 and 3 of IMI. The apprentices will be destined for one of the following areas depending on their trade:

Fleet workshop (Electrical and Mechanical)

Build Bay

Engine Build

Dyno Test Area

Environmental Test Lab

  • Delivery of an electrical multiskilling course designed to enhance electrical understanding. This course includes wiring diagrams and electrical principles as well as building, fault-finding and repairing wiring harnesses.

  • Delivery of additional training sessions on:

  • Hybrid technology

  • Electric vehicles

  • Selective catalytic reduction (S.C.R.) - Add Blue

  • Engine disassembly, inspection (including metrology) and assembly

  • To assist in the development of schemes of work, learning materials, timetabling / rotation planning, and trainee / learner assignments.

  • To act as tutor and mentor to apprentices, providing academic guidance and support.

  • To assist in the preparation and development of practical facilities and provide Technician / Lecturer support as necessary.

  • Carry out induction training as detailed in current procedures.

  • Liaison with Plant supervisor / managers and Schools.

  • Advise and counsel apprentices  as necessary regarding training, welfare and discipline

  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, including providing apprentices progress.

  • Participate in careers and marketing events as necessary.

  • To act as may be necessary in other ways to assist the organisation to meet its objectives.

  • Maintain Continuous Professional Development in accordance with current  internal and external requirements.
